IB Exams Week1

Thursday, May 05, 2005

Finished IB exam week one. Now I only have another week and a day left. Utter joy.

Let's see, first day of exam, I had an one hour math short answer test. That was really not all that bad. I am pretty sure I got most of the stuff ther correct. Now the problem is really the second day, wednesday when I had my math paper 2 and chem paper 1 and 2.

Let's see... Math paper one... overall I think I did okay, but I did not finish the stupid paper, but it was still okay. Chem on the other hand.... The multiple choice was as tricky as ever, being a HL cource, and the written respond... Why the hell did I not study half life?! WHY?! WHY!? WHY?! *cough* Yeah it was that bad. Part A was hell, I think I did okay on the 2 question of choice in part B though.

A happy thought for my overly troubled soul: I am going to university no matter what, I am going to get above 29 and I know it. In the long run even if I don't get 36 it will still mean absolutely nothing.

Unhappy thoughts aside, I did well in the optional topic paper 3 in chem this morning. Well at least I think I did well. You never know. I find that sometimes the more you think you did well on something in reality you did absolutely horrible and then you find yourself pushed to a corner of self denial and self pity.

I probably did not get perfect, but I did well enough. I went to the library with Kenneth afterwards to study for English exam. But really you can't study for a commentary. As Aaron said the other day, "It is either you get it or you don't." So... yeah. I did my commentary on the passage from a novel called The Loom (yeah I know it is quite a lame title, sort of remind me of sleeping beauty and evil witches). What it was really about was a mother weaving clothes, and in doing so is also weaving out her colourful life. I tell you it is a conspiracy for mother's day preparation. I bet you those evil IB test making chose that passage just to remind us to pay respect to our mothers this weekend.

I can't believe it, but I have realized that when I really want to study, I can. For five days in the last week I have stayed in the library from after school till it closed. My efficiency was much higher when there is no computer in front of me... On tuesday I had the most healthy dinner ever. I went to candy factory to buy 5 dollars worth of candy and then bought one of those Chinese strawberry flavoured egg roll cake with cream for 4 dollars. Candy sort of got gross after you ate half a bag. I saved the rest for the next day. I managed to eat a bunch more on wednesday, but Kenneth ketp bugging me saying it is not healthy so I ended up offering my candy to Vivien. She ate the rest, in a way I was sort of glad.

There are too many movies I want to watch after IB exams. Way too many. I will be broke when I am done. i want to watch Star Wars (who doesn't), Hitch hiker's guide to the Galaxy, Kingdom of Heaven, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Chronicle of Narnia, and Pride and Prejudice when ever that comes out. Nightwatch, Weather Man, and Corpse Bride also look promising. And I still have to go rent Finding Neverland.

As good wholesome anime. I am now watching a few new anime that just came out this month. The two that got me hooked are Sousei no Aquarion, and Law of Ueki. Sousei no Aquarion reminds of Escaflowne, except it is a mordern version. I love the music, and it is much funnier than Escaflowne. I like the character design and there are no overly mellowdramatic war philosophy like that in Gundam series. Thank god. I am getting so tired of hearing people say they hate war but decided to fight anyway.

As for Law of Ueki, I just found it funny. I thought the character design was decent. Sort of remind me of a yugioh mix with Shaman King except with better art and funnier characters. It has good music too... and that's always a plus.

Oh top of that I am watching Bleach, like many people are right now. Bleach is getting so popular right now... so many people are downloading it. I am quite impress. I am also sort of watching Speed Grapher, that is too dark for exam time though. Furthermore, I am sort of following Ah my Goddess, but it is sort of getting boring. They play the same joke again and again, and that main character girl is getting annoying with her perfectness. Naruto is alright I guess, I am kind of starting to watch it again since it is Naruto vs Sasuke fight finally... but after this fight I will not see Sasuke again for many many episodes... so I am not so sure about watching it for long. However, seeing Sakura is getting ultra strong now in the manga means there will still be something that keeps me watching in the future. She better not faint or do something wussy or I will really lose interest in this series.

I am getting my father to bring back a lot of manga when he comes back. I am going to finally get Chrno Crusade, Bleach and Blade of Immortal along with all the new manga for the series I am following so far. It will be fun to read everything when time comes....

But until then.

Test Status: 6 down 9 to go.
